Why not let us handle your prescriptions from start to finish, allowing you to sit back, relax and enjoy the day whilst your medication needs are being taken care of by our fully trained and helpful staff. We offer a free prescription ordering and collection service from all the surgeries in Washington, Shiney Row, Penshaw, Birtley, Ouston and Chester le Street areas. Once your medication has been collected and dispensed you can then either inform us that you wish to collect it from the pharmacy or have it automatically delivered using our free delivery service direct to your doorstep via one of our friendly delivery drivers!

If you are on regular repeat medications and have been stable on them for a period of time you may be eligible for NHS Repeat Dispensing. This is a very convenient service as it reduces the ordering of prescriptions on a regular basis with your surgery, yet still allowing you to obtain your medications over a period of time. The staff at Woodlands Pharmacy are more than happy to provide further information on this service so please do get in touch.

*This service is at the discretion of your GP surgery.

There are many patients who have difficulties managing their medications and often fail to remember to take their medications, thus leading to inadequate medication therapy. An answer to this could be the use of a weekly dosette tray. Woodlands Pharmacy offers many different types of weekly dosette trays that will suit the patients’ needs to help them manage and remember to take their medications. An assessment would be required by one of helpful pharmacists to ensure that a weekly dosette tray is necessary before we provide this service.

We have numerous patients who rely on us to order their prescriptions automatically on their behalf. This may due to their busy schedule or because they are unable to manage their own prescription orders. If you feel that this is applicable to you then please get in touch with us and let us explain how we can help you by ordering on your behalf and preparing your medications ready for collection or delivery. By using this service we always aim to reduce any medication wastage thus saving the NHS money in the long run as well.

Medicines Use Review is an NHS funded service whereby one of our friendly pharmacists will go through your medications with you and ensure that you are getting the most of your medications to manage the conditions they are being prescribed for. This also gives you an opportunity to ask any questions that you may have regarding your medications/conditions.

If you have been a prescribed a new drug to help treat Blood Pressure, Anticoagulation, Type 2 Diabetes or Asthma/COPD then you may be eligible for our New Medicines Service. This service is funded by the NHS and involves one of our trained pharmacists having two consultations with you over a 4 week period. This allows us to support you with any queries or concerns you may have about your new medications as well as enabling us to ensure you are using your medication in the optimal way to manage your condition.
